Perhaps, you are not so familiar with this element, Peking Opera. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you a story about it.

These slip-ons are designed by Amy, a sensitive but considerate girl who is addicted to the hand painted art and good at freehanding shoes. She exclusively design the slip-ons with Chinese style for you, and hopes you can find the true love and happiness in your life. What’s more, she tells you that happiness isn't getting all you want. It's enjoying all you have.

Now, let’s get down to the business. Speaking of the Peking Opera, it is an encyclopedia of Chinese culture, as well as unfolding stories, beautiful paintings, exquisite costumes, graceful gestures and martial arts. So, it's regarded as the national treasure with a history of 200 years. As you can see on the shoes, there’re two cartoonish roles. They call each other “Xianggong” and “Niangzi”. Right, this means that they are husband and wife. In addition, they are the common roles in the Peking Opera called as Sheng () and Dan ().

The Sheng is the main male role in Peking opera. This role has numerous subtypes. The laosheng is a dignified older role. These characters have a gentle and cultivated disposition and wear sensible costumes. Depending on the character's rank in society, the costume of the xiaosheng may be either elaborate or simple. The wusheng is a martial character for roles involving combat. They are highly trained in acrobatics, and have a natural voice when singing. In terms of Dan, it is the female role in Peking opera. Dan roles were originally divided into five subtypes. Old women were played by laodan, martial women were wudan, young female warriors were daomadan, virtuous and elite women were qingyi, and vivacious and unmarried women were huadan.

Refering to “Xianggong” and “Niangzi”, they are the common call in the Peking Opera. Both of them are the most ancient traditional nicknames in China. But now, new lovers continue to use them because it's so ancient that it's fun. In other words, couples use it just to be different.

In the end, have you found your “Xianggong” or “Niangzi” in your life? Hope this special peking opera themed hand painted slip-ons can bring someone for you.
